National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) Roadshow
On the 25th October we were absolutely delighted to be chosen to host one of the National Deaf Children’s Society Roadshow events!
This was an amazing opportunity for deaf children and their families to talk to the knowledgeable team about the support and services provided by the NDCS, as well as gather information about childhood deafness, the latest equipment available and the technology that can provide deaf children and young people more independence.
We were able to invite local schools and families to make use of the NDCS facilities as well as our own families and peer groups within the nursery. Some of our oldest children took the opportunity to learn some Deaf awareness as well as some basic sign language!
It was a fantastic day, extremely well attended and enjoyed by the local community. We would like to say a massive thank you to Kerry, Jamie and the roadshow team from the NDCS who were a brilliant support to so many, as well as our local schools and sensory service for promoting the event to the families in the local area.
We are welcoming many new families this month and it’s been brilliant to see them all settling in so well. The staff in the baby room have many years experience of introducing little ones into nursery life and are on hand at any time throughout the day to answer questions, reassure you and learn all about the unique and individual needs of your family.
One of the most popular activities in the baby room at the minute is our Mini Disco where the children and staff turn the music on and have a boogie together. It’s wonderful to watch the babies laugh, gurgle, wriggle and clap their hands with excitement!!!
We’ve just enjoyed a wonderful celebration for all our preschool children. They had their own graduation ceremony and a brilliant party to celebrate the end of their nursery journey. We’re so sad to see our families go although we know that the children will absolutely love the next step in their education.
Well done to each and every one of you and good luck in school !!!
Parents can expect to see their own copy of the graduation DVD very soon – Watch this space!
On the 21st July we went to Smithills farm in Bolton. We had a fabulous day, the children got to hold and stroke a really wide variety of animals such as an Eagle owl, Llama, puppy, chicks, rabbits and a donkey. They also enjoyed feeding the lambs, seeing how the cows are milked and went on a tractor ride!
We’d like to say a massive thank you to all the parents that came along to help with the day, we couldn’t have done it without you.
After the incident that impacted on our city so much on the 22nd May, the nursery team decided that they wanted to come together to show our solidarity and respect for those affected.
The whole nursery gathered together in the outdoor area and the children released 22 balloons. The children were mesmerised watching the balloons float upwards and it created a truly touching moment for everyone involved. We are very proud of all our children and staff team.
Yoga for everyone
We are pleased to announce that our Yoga teacher, Katie is back with us for the Spring Term (the beginning of January to the end of March). She works with the preschool children at each of our settings and is always a very popular addition to our curriculum.
The children have been practicing how to be a dog, a tree and a butterfly!! The class uses different games and props to make it really accessible for the children and it’s also fantastic for supporting their emerging physical skills such as their balance.
Katie is also locally based in Denton and runs classes for all ages.

Happy New Year!
We would like to wish all our families a very happy 2017. We hope you have enjoyed the Christmas festivities and we are all ready to kick off a brand new year!
Our Christmas fair took place on the 26th November and was co-ordinated by the team at our branch in Flowery Fields. The day was a fantastic success and we have raised a massive £862,88 which has been divided between two local charities, Millie’s Trust and Reuben’s Retreat.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff, parents and children who made the fair possible.
Health and Nutrition
The Government and the N.H.S. are encouraging families to eat five portions of fruits and vegetables each day. We follow these guidelines when compiling our Menus and children are offered a selection of fresh fruit every day. Fruit and vegetables are key to a healthier lifestyle and we promote healthy eating and lifestyles in all […]
